Sound
Therapy
Sound is
everywhere. It surrounds us. Sound is a way of life and certain
sounds share a universal language. Sound and the way our brains
interpret the sounds we hear affect how we respond to our world. The
frequency and vibration of some sounds can be harmonic or discordant,
rejuvenating or boring, uplifting and inspiring or frightening and
grating, and so on. Importantly, sound is experienced uniquely by you.
The
individual and collective harmonic overtones of singing bowls have a
unique register and resonance. Leslie works as a sound therapist
using singing bowls, gong, tingshawes, bells and voice. She will
share with you the history, care and the different ways you can play
each instrument. A demonstration of how to work on and around the
body will follow. And given that she is speaking to a receptive
audience, Leslie will show you how she uses a pendulum to gauge the
effectiveness of different crystals she puts in the bowls to change
the frequency of the sound.
Sound
therapy is a complete modality. It is a holistic, non-invasive
complementary practice that can enhance sleep patterns, aid pain
management, reduce stress and promote relaxation. Our own health and
wellbeing and our capacity to personally influence our wellness is
within us all. Leslie aims is to encourage you to source and embrace
a broad sound dynamic to use sound therapeutically for yourself,
loved ones and others. And above all - have fun.
